November 30, 2015
The following points need attention (see below):
- ICCC organization of parallel session and deadline abstracts
- within one day is the deadline for sending an abstract for the ICCC'16
(International Conference on Coordination Chemistry) in Brest,
from July 3-8, 2016. http://iccc2016.sciencesconf.org
As ECOSTBio Action we have been able to arrange a parallel session of
the meeting for ECOSTBio, as initiative for the participation and
promotion of young researchers. Therefore, we are looking for 2-3
young researchers (early career investigators, up to 8 years after PhD)
for the organization of the session. Volunteers should send a message
to the Chair and Vice-Chair with motivation (5 lines).
-
the MC had already planned a maximum budget, with which we can
reimburse travel, two nights of accommodation, and 4 meals, for a
total of ca. 10-12 people. Those who want to be considered for this
should send a message to the Chair and Vice-Chair.
Selection of the participants that will be reimbursed is made by the
Chair and Vice-Chair based on objective criteria, following the guidelines
of the COST program.
-
the deadline for sending a message to the Chair/Vice-Chair is the same
as the deadline for the ICCC conference.
http://iccc2016.sciencesconf.org
- STSMs deadline
- a large part of the budget for the STSMs for the second budget-period (1/6/15-31/5/16) has been allocated
already for 9 STSMs; in view of the prevision of budget for the Prague meeting, there will be a deadline for
applying for a STSM for this second period: Jan. 15, 2016, 23.59h.
These STSMs should take place in the second period, and hence END before June 1, 2016.
- Speakers Prague needed
-
ECOSTBio participants that want to present their work at the Prague meeting, should send a title plus abstract
to the Chair, before December 15, 2015, 23.59h. It should be indicated whether one wants to present
a poster or a talk.
The following template should be used for the abstract.
- Summer school 2016: inscription deadline Jan. 31, 2016
-
Dear Colleagues,
I am please to inform you that registration for the Action Summer School to be held in Groningen, July 9-16, 2016 is now accepting applications.
The 2016 COST Action CM1305 Summer School - Theory and practice in Spectroscopy and Electrochemistry - will be held in partnership with the University of Groningen Summer Schools series and with the support of the Netherlands Gravitation Program - Functional Molecular Systems Research Center (FMSresearch.nl).
The school will have a maximum of 30 places. Requests for funding should made by letter (pdf) which can be uploaded during the application.
You can apply online now (deadline: January 31, 2016):
https://forms.iphosting.rug.nl/FORMfields/forms/generated/summerschool2016_609277.php
Dates: Arrival Saturday 9th July - Departure Saturday 16th July. The summer school will build on the 2015 Summer School, and will focus on:
-
DFT and LF-DFT methods - including ADF, Gaussian and ORCA (Prof Marcel Swart, Dr Remco Havenith, Prof Maja Gruden, Dr Edwin Otten)
-
Electrochemistry - including cyclic voltammetry and spectroelectrochemistry (Prof Wesley Browne)
-
Multidimensional NMR spectroscopy (Prof Ricardo Louro)
-
Mössbauer spectroscopy (Prof Eckhard Bill)
-
EPR spectroscopy (Dr Maylis Orio, Prof Carole Duboc)
In all areas both theoretical and hands-on practical training will be provided. The school is aimed at PhD students but is open to Postdocs and research Masters students if places are available. The language is English and the practicals will be divided between novice and advanced groups within each subject. Practical sessions will involve hands-on laboratory exercises at beginner and advanced levels rather than demonstrations (with the exception of Mössbauer spectroscopy). Accommodation will be at the Martini Hotel Groningen (included in registration fee).
Lectures and practicals will be held at the Stratingh Institute for Chemistry at the University of Groningen.
Note that, if places are available, the school will be open to those that attended the 2015 addition since the content and program of the two editions will have negligible overlap.

with kind regards
